Every ad spot on Liberads runs in one of two formats. Community placements use the first.
Community Canvas
An image-only format: contributors submit a picture, no destination link. Your community fills the canvas with banners, art and in-jokes, and the display rotates as new contributions are approved.
- Embeds on your site as a plain image URL, no JavaScript.
- The same URL works as an image source in OBS, so one canvas can run on your site and your livestream at once.
- You approve every image before it shows.
Standard clickable ads
The familiar format: an image with a destination link, for advertisers promoting a project or product. Same human approval, same rotation, same no-script embed.
- Advertiser sets the image and the link; you set the price and policy.
- Best for conventional promotion alongside your Community Canvas.
Personal, not programmatic
Community placements are not built to min-max stats or race prices to the bottom. The people funding them already know the site, so the results tend to be things only a regular would think of. That is the point.
Free JavaScript only
We use minimal JavaScript, and what little we use is libre. Heavy scripts are a common attack vector, which is why the Free Software Foundation runs its FreeJS campaign. Liberads placements themselves use none at all.
Back a site you like
Fund a banner, buy a community notice, or get a running joke on the front page for a month. The owner approves it, you get the credit.
